Below is a list of questions Angel has asked her nominees answer.
What inspired you to begin blogging
Back in 2015 my family was dealing with tragic news. You see, for the second year in a row a family member was diagnosed with Cancer. That may not sound very unusual in today’s world. However, the first person to be diagnosed with Bladder Cancer was my mom, and then in 2015 my father was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer. In the beginning, my mothers cancer was slow growing. The doctors said, “they could manage it, but not cure it”. Unfortunately, my fathers cancer was extremely aggressive and he passed rather quickly. I have always questioned the quality and origin of food, lifestyle choices and how safe my environment really is.
The loss of both my parents launched me into finding answers, and more importantly sharing my discoveries. From the beginning, Blogging felt like the right platform to promote health and wellness. My boyfriend at the time, who is now my husband, thought this was a great idea. He has been by my side from thought to conception and from every “like” and “follower” I have gained since.
When you go through tragedy, you can either let it destroy you and you become bitter and never let go, or you can let it make you stronger and let it make you grow.
Favorite childhood memory?
I have a ton of childhood memories! The one that stands out the most in my mind is playing Lego’s for hours (I mean, like all day) with my mom and older brother. When I was a child, there were many days in the winter that it was to cold to play outside. In an effort to entertain two kids, my mom would bust out a large bin filled with LEGO’s. We would all agree on a category, such as; camper, dream home, castle etc… and then start building. A the end of the day we would all pick whose was the best. Lego’s inspired creativity, working together, sharing and most of all, time well spent!
Who inspires you?
This is going to sound cheesy, but my husband inspires me. I warned you, it’s a “cheese fest” but it is true. My husband is intelligent, disciplined, consistent, even tempered and the fairest man I know! In an intense situation I usually act like an emotional women, he stands strong, patient and calculated. If it was not for my husbands support and believing in me, I may never have taken my leap into what was then, the unknown world of Blogging : )
What challenge in your life actually turned out to be a good thing in the end?
For most of my childhood my father was in the Air Force. Back in the 80’s this meant our family moved around the world. A LOT! The last I counted I had 7 elementary schools, one Junior High and thankfully, one High School. Every time we had to move, I wined and complained. I hated to be the new kid at school. In fact, on multiple occasions on the first day of school I would get so nervous that I would get sick and have to go home! Once I started college and matured into my twenties, I realized that moving around was not so bad. I was able to see and expiernece the world. Now, as an adult I easily adapt and enjoy meeting new people. No more getting sick!
Favorite holiday and why?
My favorite holiday is Halloween. I love being silly and getting dressed up. In my home, Halloween is a holiday where creativity and imagination rule above all. I prefer to make my costume and work with my kids on creating unique costumes of their own. I attribute this to my mom. My mom always had the best costume! As a young girl, she taught me a little about sewing and crafting, but most of all to take things laying around the house and repurpose make them into amazing costumes.
